How to set up online booking and payment processing for your website

Booking confirmation emails

Floorspace sends confirmation and cancellation emails to you and your guests. You can disable, enable, and edit the content of these emails in Booking > Settings > Admin Emails and Bookings > Settings > Customer Emails.

Additionally, go to Bookings > Settings > Email Settings to change the name and email from which these emails are sent.

Payment Gateways

To accept payments on your Floorspace website, you need to enable a third-party payment gateway. Floorspace integrates with several payment gateways. You can use any one or all of the following:

  • PayPal
  • 2Checkout
  • Stripe
  • Braintree
  • Beanstream/Bambora

If you don’t already have any of these accounts, we recommend PayPal or Stripe. To integrate, you must create an account with the payment gateway(s) you would like to use.

To enable Stripe

Stripe is a simple and secure way to accept credit card payments online. They charge 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, which is automatically taken out of your payment.

  1. Create a Stripe account (link)
  2. Go to Bookings > Settings > Payment Gateways and click on ‘Stripe’
  3. Check ‘Enable “Pay by Card” (Stripe)’
  4. If you want to test a booking and payment using Stripe, check ‘Enable Sandbox Mode’
  5. Enter the ‘Secret Key’ and ‘Public Key’ from your Stripe account. (How to find your Stripe keys)
  6. Click ‘Save Changes’
  7. Once you have done a successful test booking and payment transaction, make sure to uncheck ‘Enable Sandbox Mode’
  8. If you want to make Stripe your default payment gateway, go to Bookings > Settings > Payment Gateways and click ‘General Settings’ and select ‘Stripe’ from the ‘Default Gateway’ dropdown menu.

To enable PayPal

PayPal is a well-known payment gateway, and has the benefit of allowing people to checkout using their PayPal account, without having to enter their credit card information. They charge 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, which is automatically taken out of your payment.

  1. Create a PayPal business account (link)
  2. Go to Bookings > Settings > Payment Gateways and click on ‘PayPal’
  3. Check ‘Enable “PayPal”‘
  4. If you want to test a booking and payment using PayPal, check ‘Enable Sandbox Mode’
  5. Enter your PayPal business email.
  6. Click ‘Save Changes’
  7. Once you have done a successful test booking and payment transaction, make sure to uncheck ‘Enable Sandbox Mode’
  8. If you want to make PayPal your default payment gateway, go to Bookings > Settings > Payment Gateways and click ‘General Settings’ and select ‘PayPal’ from the ‘Default Gateway’ dropdown menu.

Important note: Once you have your Payment Gateway(s) set up, go to Bookings > Settings > Payment Gateways and click on ‘Test Payment’ and uncheck both boxes. This will remove the test payment option from your site.
